Ok, we all know what Slack is and it can really do for your business. For those that have not tried Slack, you should!! You would immediately see the benefits of using Slack for your team. But it’s only as efficient as the apps that you integrate for your team. Think of Slack as What’s App on steroids. What’s App groups are equivalent of channels in Slack. But What’s App groups don’t allow external sources to dump data into a channel.
We ourselves were apprehensive of what Slack can do for our team until we tried it out. So here is our top pics of apps that really works for us.
JIRA
We plan our entire product on JIRA. So it only makes sense to inform our team every time something is added or updated in JIRA. Although we have emails for all of these. Immediate notifications let the whole team be aware of all activities.
BITBUCKET
Our product is source controlled using GIT and Bitbucket. Bitbucket notified the developers of any changes in code and what has been pushed. We also get to know what has been reviewed. An easy way to also know who is working on what if the JIRA issue numbers are also appended with the commits.
JENKINS
Mr. Jenkins is always on his feet to pick up changes and compile them. When you have a complex dev ops systems that run a QA environment for the develop branch and a master branch for production, its only right to let the developers know as soon as there is a change or something that has failed.
INTERCOM
Any product is only as good as its customers. Traction is the number one source of motivation, drive etc. So we feel it’s so important to let your team know when new customers have signed up and how many of them have started paying for your service. CLOCKIT
In between all of this madness of coding, shopping, bugs, releases etc, the last thing on the team’s mind is to mark their time and attendance. So we use ClockIt. One simple command and everyone is aware of who is IN and who is OUT. ClockIt takes care of the rest when it comes to work duration and overtime.
